顎式碎石機的保險裝置，就是當顎腔內進入不能破碎物塊(如電耙齒、釬頭等金屬塊)時，使碎石機停止工作，從而保護了動顎、機架、偏心軸等大型貴重部件免受損壞。一般顎式碎石機的安全裝置，是將推力板分成兩段，中間用螺栓連接，設計時故意減弱螺栓的強度；也有在推力板上開孔或采用鑄鐵制造，推力板的最小斷面尺寸是根據碎石機在超負荷時，能自行斷裂而設計的。
